Selecting the correct bolts is crucial in ensuring the safety and longevity of any mechanical system. Bolts play a critical role in joining different components together and transferring forces between them. The incorrect selection of bolts can lead to premature failures, potentially causing accidents and injuries. Therefore, it is important to choose the right bolts for the application.

One of the key factors to consider when selecting bolts is the material. Different materials have varying properties that affect their strength, corrosion resistance, and temperature resistance. Choosing the right material ensures that the bolts will withstand the intended operating conditions and loads.

Another factor to consider is the bolt size and thread pitch. Choosing the wrong size or pitch can lead to poor thread engagement, which can cause the bolts to fail under load. It is also important to consider the head type, length, and drive style of the bolts.

Failure of Rotor

The rear rotor was finalized and pushed to manufacturing. However, I tested the bolts that are being used to secure the rotor to the motor. The results of the test was unsatisfactory. The summary of the results are as follows:

As the FOS is unsatisfactory, we decided to re-design of the rotor.
